Course Content

There is a perception that the Department of Social Protection is turning into a virtual "Call Center" and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get straight answers to questions on PRSI and Benefit/Pension qualification, accordingly, these days accountants are now expected to have all the answers to clients queries. The following subjects will be covered in detail

  • PRSI liabilities and exemptions
  • Recent Welfare legislation and its implications
  • Executive Directors PRSI liabilities
  • Benefits and Pension available to the Self-Employed
  • Advising clients on when it is beneficial to pay Voluntary contributions
  • Advice for clients on all aspects of qualification to Welfare schemes with particular emphasis on the State Pension Contributory
  • Ensuring clients are not exposed to future Welfare over-payments
  • Advising clients who are billed for Welfare over-payments
  • Representing your client when seeking a formal decision from Welfare
  • Representing your client at an Oral Appeal Hearing
  • Extended period of Q&A

“Far more useful and relevant even than I was expecting. Very practical focus”
J Smith

“Fantastic – real eye opener as in the implementations of an area that clients assume accountants know in detail”
G Browne
