Fergal Cahill – Managing Director – Cahill Taxation Services

Fergal Cahill is a graduate of Law & Accounting from the University of Limerick. He qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser with the Irish Tax Institute.  Prior to founding CTS in 2007, his career included spells as Trainee in PWC Limerick, Tax Senior in PWC Cork, Tax Director in FGS and Tax Director in KPMG.

His particular areas of expertise include Revenue audits, corporate restructuring, succession planning, personal tax planning and VAT on property.

Colm Owens – Practice Support Executive – OmniPro

As a members of our Practice Support team, Colm’s focus is on helping practices achieve on-going best practice compliance, prepare for monitoring visits and assist with post-monitoring visits follow-ups.

Colm brings a unique insight into the whole area of monitoring and compliance having spent the last 6 years as a quality reviewer with Chartered Accountants Ireland.  In that role he has visited firms of differing sizes all over the country which has given him an insight into how firms operate, the challenges facing firms and how firms are responding to current issues facing them and the profession.  He has gained up-to-date knowledge of audit, accounting, money laundering and regulatory compliance issues relevant to the profession and knowledge of current audit methodologies.

Des O’Neill – Co-Founder and Managing Director, OmniPro

Having worked for a number of years in practice, Des O’Neill co-founded OmniPro to develop tools, techniques, products and services, empowering accountants to achieve their best. Over 15 years, he has grown the company to a multi-million-euro turnover business and established OmniPro as Ireland’s largest independent provider of CPD for accountants.

Des speaks regularly, at national and international fora, on practice development, auditing, accounting, company law and regulation. He is passionate about bringing innovation to the profession and empowering accountants to achieve what they want in their careers and practice.

Paul Murphy –Managing Director –  Martin J Kelly & Co

Paul Murphy is a taxation consultant and management accountant for Martin J. Kelly & Co. He is a corporation tax lecturer for the Irish Taxation Institute and is an Associate of both the Irish Taxation Institute and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He is a co-author of the Irish Taxation Institute’s annual publication, Irish Taxation Law and Practice.

John Murphy – Tax, Corporate Restructuring and Practice Support – OmniPro

As a lead member of our technical support team, John relishes problem-solving to help accountants develop innovative client solutions and sharing technical knowledge on tax, financial reporting and auditing.

A Chartered Tax Adviser, he advises clients in practice on a range of issues from income tax, tax planning, restructuring and exit planning to Revenue audits. In addition, he provides support on financial reporting, auditing and company law; conducts company valuations and advises on pre-sale restructuring.

John also plays a key role as a researcher and subject-matter expert in developing OmniPro information products such as the CompaniesAct2014.com and FRS102.com. As a speaker at OmniPro CPD events, he brings these industry-leading insights to accountants participating in our training programmes.

Laura Lynch, Managing Director – Laura Lynch & Associates

Laura Lynch is managing director of Laura Lynch & Associates tax advisory firm.  Laura provides personal and corporate SME clients with strategic and commercially focused tax, financing and structuring advice on issues such as wealth protection, succession planning, pensions, cross border matters and tax efficient employee remuneration. She works closely with both angel investors and investee companies, including HALO Business Angel Network, facilitating investments in start-up and expanding companies.

Laura was recently awarded a Fellowship of the Irish Tax Institute and is also a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.  She has lectured extensively for several professional bodies, particularly the Irish Tax Institute, including delivery of their annual Finance Bill nationwide tour.  She is co-author of the ITI’s annual publication, FINAK, which provides in-depth commentary and comprehensive technical analysis of each section of a Finance Act following enactment.

Laura is also a Council member of the Irish Tax Institute and is Chairman of their TALC (direct taxes) Committee, which is the main forum for making representations between Revenue and practitioners on the administration of tax in Ireland.

Neill Doran –  Practice Support Executive – OmniPro

As a member of Omnipro’s Practice Support team, Neil brings on board 12 years of accountancy experience, including IFRS and FRS 100-102 financial reporting for small subsidiaries and charities right through to large listed entities in Ireland and the UK.

He is currently analysing the new auditing standards requirements for OmniPro’s online information products, CPD events and the creation of our micro-entity audit work programme for ARC – the Accountant’s Resource Centre.

Yvonne O’Sullivan – Tax Executive – OmniPro

Yvonne is a key member of our technical support team, providing advice on all tax heads in response to queries submitted through our Knowledge Hub platform. In addition, she provides support within the tax department on tax planning, restructuring and exit planning solutions for a range of clients.

A Chartered Certified Accountant, Yvonne trained and worked in small practice for a number of years followed by working for over 2 years in an independent Dublin based firm Beechwood Partners. She has experience with a range of professionals, executives, entrepreneurs and family groups assisting them with their tax compliance across all areas. She worked closely with clients providing daily practical and operational assistance with the management of their personal and business finance administration as well as assisting with the ongoing analysis and production of investment portfolio reports.

Yvonne has recently completed her final IATI Chartered Tax Adviser Exams, and plays a key role as a researcher on developing subject matter and content for our Knowledge Hub tax product.

Stuart Anderson – CEO – XpertDPO Ltd.

Stuart has gained a unique blend of business and technical acumen in the areas of Data Protection, Data Quality and implementing Regulatory Compliance processes. Stuart has been certified by IBITGQ as a GDPR practitioner and is registered with GASQ (The Global Association for Software Quality). This led to Stuart continuing his data protection studies at University College Dublin, studying the GDip in Data Protection Policy and Procedures / Certified Data Protection Officer.

Stuart is an Officer member of the Association of Data Protection Officers, the Association of Compliance Officers Ireland and a member of the Institute of Banking. More recently, Stuart has had articles published in the International Journal for Data Protection Officers, Privacy Officers and Privacy Counsel with the latest article giving insight into the effect of Brexit on Data Protection.

Declan McEvoy – Partner, Head of Tax – IFAC

As an AITI Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), Declan leads IFAC’s tax team and specialises in advising Agri Business clients. With over 30 years experience, Declan has lead the development of IFAC’s taxation team which is widely recognised for its specialist knowledge of tax issues in the Agri Business sector.

Declan is frequently quoted in Agri Business publications and general media.

Padraig Daly – Director – Mazars

Padraig Daly is a Director with Mazars specialising in advising clients in the Construction industry as well as advising other Irish and multinational companies on mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganisations and tax efficient financing. In recent years, he has focused on property development and investment, during which he has advised on significant residential and commercial developments, structuring investment into Ireland from abroad, public-private partnerships and infrastructure projects.

He has written and lectured extensively on tax matters including for the Institute and the leading accounting bodies. He is a Chartered Tax Adviser and Chartered Accountant.

Michelle O’Donoghue – Audit & Business Advisory Director – RBK

Michelle’s core expertise is with Credit Unions and Charities and Not for Profit organisations.

She has responsibility for the delivery of external audit, internal audit, outsourced risk and compliance services and merger due diligence work.

Michelle is a regular speaker at RBK’s annual Credit Union seminar. She also assists in the provision of training for Boards of Charities and Credit Unions on the areas of Directors responsibilities and lectures on Internal Audit, Risk Management and Effective Board Reporting.

Gabrielle Dillon – Director – Dermot O’Brien & Associates

Gabrielle Dillon is a Director of Dermot O’Brien & Associates and is a respected specialist in VAT for many years.

Gabrielle qualified as an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute in 2002 and holds a Barrister-at-Law degree and a BA in European Studies (Law). She has experience in a broad range of VAT issues at both Irish and European level, and has a particular interest in VAT and property.

Gabrielle has lectured in VAT on the Irish Taxation Institute’s Tax Technician programme and its AITI programme. She is co-author of the ITI’s publication Value-Added Tax. She has written extensively on various VAT issues, she writes the “VAT News” column in the Irish Tax Review, and she is a member of that journal’s editorial committee.

Rose Tierney – Principal – Tierney Tax Consultancy

Rose Tierney is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser qualified to practice in both the UK and Ireland. After many years in practice in London and Dublin she set up Tierney Tax Consultancy. Having advised businesses from large multinationals to sole trader start ups Rose now uses that wealth of experience in assisting individuals and businesses on tax matters arising in both jurisdictions.

Tierney Tax Consultancy also operates as an independent tax adviser for professional accountancy and legal firms enhancing the servicesthat they can provide to their own clients.
